It records eight tracks, two of which can be recorded at a time, plus a dedicated 2 buss master track, all to the included SD card. Each of its two inputs is equipped with an XLR microphone preamp, and one of the 1/4″ inputs also does double duty as a dedicated guitar input. A number of effects are included. Reverb gives your tracks a sense of space while the included mastering effects give your songs their finishing touches.

Each track has its own dedicated channel in the mixer section with a 45mm fader, pan knob, and reverb send knob. 2 band shelving EQ allows you to dial in the sound on each track. After carefully adjust each track’s volume, panning, EQ and reverb, it’s time to take your mix to the final stage, mastering.


Mastering used to be a daunting task best left to professionals, but now the Tascam DP-03 Digital Portastudio puts mastering effects right at your fingertips. Limiting will make your mix louder and more even in volume, and combined with the mastering EQ your mix will sound tighter, more modern, and generally more polished. This digital portastudio’s dedicated stereo master track records the finished song. Once finished, you can either use the included USB port to transfer songs to a computer, or burn them to a disc with the built-in CD burner.
